Guests were played into the ceremony by Ella (S6) on piano, shortly followed by a wonderful musical prelude performed by S6 pupils Sally, Rachel, Amelia, Poppy and Leila, accompanied by Mr Ronan Corkey.
This year’s guest of honour, Lorraine Davidson, Chief Executive of the Scottish Council of Independent Schools, addressed the audience, sharing insights and encouragement with pupils as they look ahead to future challenges and opportunities.
Lorraine, in her speech, commented.
“The core skills you need to adapt to an ever-changing world are: honesty, compassion, curiosity, creativity, resilience and independence.”
Lorriane also said.
“We can’t all be good at everything, and don’t spend time beating yourself up on the things on which you are unlikely to make your mark, as long as you have given it your best shot.”
Mrs Davidson subsequently presented prizes across a wide range of categories, recognising excellence in academic subjects, wider achievement and service to the school community.
This year’s Primary Dux was Zachary (P7). The Proxime Accessit to the Girls’ Dux, The Helen McMillan Prize, was awarded to Salsabil (S6). The Girls’ Dux, receiving The Mary McMillan Kerr Prize and Gold Medal, was Zoe (S6).
The Boys’ Dux award, comprising The Rector’s Prize and 1829 Silver Medal, was awarded jointly to Reuben (S6) and Jacob (S6).
As is tradition, the ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by School Captain Ava, who expressed gratitude on behalf of the pupils, staff and wider school community. School Captain Ainsley then led the audience in “Three Cheers for the School”, bringing the celebration to a fitting close.
The ceremony concluded with piper Nicholas (S6) leading the Chairman and guests from the hall.
It was a wonderful occasion that celebrated the hard work, commitment, and achievements of our pupils and marked the end of another successful school year.
Congratulations to all prize winners and award recipients. View the full album via the link below:
