Here, S4 pupil George writes about his experience;
It was 3am on Sunday, the 9thof February when me and everyone else going on the trip to Space Centre Houston 2020 walked into Glasgow airport, half asleep, to get ready for the long journey to the United States.
There was the flight to Amsterdam and from there a nine-hour flight to Houston Airport.
The trip was a program by the space centre called Space Centre University where, in groups we were tasked to do five different projects on a mission to Mars.
We built rockets, mars habitats and even went scuba diving as training. In the evenings we did a wide array of activities.
We went to an arcade one night, to the cinema and to a mall another. On the final day we had brunch with an astronaut before graduating from space centre university at the awards ceremony where we received our certificates.
We then went for an amazing Texas barbeque as we approached our final evening in the states. As a final activity we went to the Kemah Boardwalk which was full of amazing rides and shops.
The next day we again took the long transatlantic flight back to Schiphol airport before heading home. This is a once in a lifetime trip that I would recommend to anyone.
