Organised by the technology department, the project gave pupils the opportunity to step into the role of civil engineers and tackle real-world challenges.
The S3 and S4 version was the ICE CityZen Pollution Control Challenge. It took place through a web-based interactive game, where every decision, investigation, and promise made affected the final score.
The S5 and S6 challenge was called ICE CityZen Build Your World. It was a similar but more in-depth version, requiring communication skills, decision-making, teamwork, leadership, planning, environmental awareness, and numeracy.
Congratulations to Lily (S3), Esme (S3), and Alice (S3), who emerged as winners of the Pollution Control Challenge, and to Amritbir (S5), Angus (S5), Dhruv (S5), and James (S6), winners of the Build Your World challenge (pictured below).
Part 2 of the challenge will involve the teams proposing their own civil engineering project to improve their local area. These project pitches will be filmed in short videos to be submitted to the ICE.
Well done to all pupils who participated and congratulations to our winning teams for their outstanding efforts.
