Model United Nations 2023

Model UN returned to Hutchesons’ for the first time since the Covid outbreak and what a successful conference it turned out to be.

We were delighted to welcome 65 pupils from Hutchesons’, George Watson’s College, Wellington School and the High School of Glasgow to take part in our Model UN Conference on Saturday.

Our Secretary General, Euan (S6), opened the conference following on from our keynote speaker, Dr Michael Scanlan, from the School of Social and Political Sciences at the University of Glasgow.

Delegates, representing 20 countries, were then dismissed to Committees (Disarmament, Human Rights and Political) where they endeavoured to pass Resolutions on topics ranging from political extremism to child marriage.

Congratulations to James (S4), representing Russia, who was Commended in the Political Committee, and thank you to all our S6 Committee Chairs, Delphie, Euan, Lewis, Niklas, Rohan, and Samyuktha.

Deputy Secretary General, Rohan (S6), closed the ceremony before all participants headed for pizza and a quiz.
